Sparking productivity

We are a trusted provider of industrial gases, applications, products and services that support welding, cutting and other processes. Our best product line includes welding supplies, cutting machines and automation from a large variety of manufacturers, and our strategically distributed plants and hubs allow us to efficiently supply our customers with our full range of industrial and process gases. But our service goes beyond providing high-quality products. We are an overall solutions provider and through our exclusive StarSolver® Productivity Enhancement Program, we work with you to reduce manufacturing costs, increase productivity and improve quality. We also have five R&D centres dedicated to developing new technologies that help you do just that.

[N2] Nitrogen

Nitrogen can be used as an assist gas for laser or plasma cutting and as a component of shielding gas for some stainless steel welding applications.

[Co2] carbon dioxide

Carbon dioxide is most often mixed with argon as a shielding gas used to prevent atmospheric contamination of molten metal in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process.

[Ar] Argon

Used to create an inert gas shield, argon is often blended with other industrial gases like carbon dioxide, oxygen, helium, hydrogen and nitrogen to enhance arc stability and improve the characteristics of gas metal arc welding. Argon is also the primary gas used for the gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).

[He] Helium

A inert industrial gas with high thermal conductivity, helium shields the molten weld pool and prevents oxidation when increased heat input is desired during the welding of metals like aluminum, stainless steel, copper and some magnesium alloys.

[O2] Oxygen

Oxygen is used as a plasma cutting gas, an assist gas for laser cutting, and is sometimes added in small quantities to shielding gases for both carbon and stainless steel welding.

[H2] Hydrogen

Hydrogen is the lightest of all the gases. Used to enhance plasma welding and cutting operations, it is commonly mixed with argon for welding stainless steel because of its oxide reducing characteristics.

[C2H2] Acetylene

Mostly used for oxy-fuel cutting and brazing applications, acetylene offers the hottest flame temperature of all commercially available fuel gases.

Cutting Processes

We’ll help you find the right gas for any industrial cutting application. From oxy-fuel to plasma arc to laser cutting, our gases and supply systems can make all the difference in your productivity.

Welding Processes

We work with you to select and apply the most cost effective welding process for your needs. From laser to submerged arc and gas metal arc welding, our expertise spans across the board.

Brazing & Soldering

Our gases and consumables for brazing and soldering systems help you create strong, reproducible joints by minimizing oxide formation and filler metal flashing. We will work with you to determine the best brazing or soldering system to produce the highest-quality joints possible.

Automated Cutting Solutions

Metal fabrication companies are seeking ways to lower costs, increase output, eliminate scrap/waste and manage the availability of skilled workers. We constantly looking for new ways to meet these needs. To this end, we have prepared a 32-page catalogue of Automated Cutting Solutions.

The new catalogue includes information on;

  • ProStar professional CNC cutting tables to fit practically any budget from the small fab shop to the larger, high-volume production user
  • Metal forming equipment such as ProStar press brakes and shears as well as plate rolls and angel rolls
  • Robotic beam and plate processing equipment
  • Hypertherm power supplies
  • IGESA gases & blends used in applications from manual cutting to lasers

Safety Product Guide

Safety products and safety equipment are as necessary to industry as having good employees to run the business. Choosing the right personal protective equipment (PPE) can be a complex task, even for experienced safety product professionals.

We have expanded our safety offering and now have over 3,000 safety products. This 150-page catalogue is divided into 6 sections, consisting of Eye, Head and Face; Hearing; Respiratory; Hand; Apparel and Area Protection; and Miscellaneous Safety Products.

Prostar Product Guide
